What to Expect

OMP5.jfif
Appointments

Your first appointment is usually an hour in length and any follow-up appointments are about 30 minutes in length. Once you have made an appointment by scheduling online, you will receive an email with information to fill out initial paperwork that includes a medical history form, consent to treatment, and HIPAA policy. Filling out your medical history before the visit will save time during your discussions with the doctor and leave more time for your treatment. If you have any reports that are pertinent to your medical problem, such as lab work, X-rays or MRIs, please bring them as well.

It will be helpful if you are able to wear loose clothing as your treatment will include hands-on, Osteopathic treatment. You will be asked to remove your shoes prior to treatment.

Late Arrivals to Appointments

If you arrive late to your appointment, your appointment will end at the scheduled time resulting in a shortened appointment time. If you arrive late by 10 minutes of your appointment time, you will be asked to reschedule and return at another time.

When you arrive

There is easy access parking at the south of the Union Depot Annex. Our office is located on the southeastern most corner of the building. The best way to enter the office is through the outside door.  No  steps or stairs are required to enter the office.

Please make yourself comfortable and wait quietly inside the waiting area, as Dr. Housman may be with another patient. Restrooms are located inside the building. A key is required for restroom access, which you can obtain through our office.

Office Environment

Our goal is to create an environment that is peaceful and nurturing for our patients. We therefore ask that cell phones are turned off while you are in the office. We also ask that you refrain from wearing any perfumes or products with strong fragrances, and that you not smoke prior to your appointment, as some of our patients have chemical sensitivities and/or respiratory problems. In order that you may receive the best treatment possible, you may want to arrange childcare for young children who might have difficulty being patient while their parents are being cared for.

Dr. Housman has dedicated her practice to facilitate your healing process and welcomes your feedback.

Students Observing Your Office Visit

Dr. Housman is involved in the education and training of Osteopathic physicians. There may be times when she will have a student observing or sitting in her office. Your needs are of the utmost importance, please inform Dr. Housman if you do not wish to have a student observe or participate in your treatment.

In Case of Emergencies

Dr. Housman does not provide emergency room services or in-patient hospital care. Dr. Housman is considered to have a specialty practice. It is important that you have a primary care physician or pediatrician. Dr. Housman will be glad to consult with you or your physician by phone, whenever possible, in reference to an emergency problem.
